Introduction
For The Book Project, each person in the class wrote a personal narrative recalling an important life event of their choice. We were encouraged to tell our stories using the "Hero's Journey". Description and dialogue were also some things that we learned to help us better our narrative writing.

Launch
To launch the project, Dr. P took us to the Vons shopping center and had us discreetly observe/describe the people there. My partner and I observed a fat white guy with strange rad and black shorts. He was around his late 40's or so.

"How I Won the Right to the Streets of Memphis"
One of the first activities that we did was staging "How I Won the Right to the Streets of Memphis", a story about a boy who is oppressed by a street gang but eventually finds the strength within himself to overcome his enemy. We read this narrative because it is an excellent example of the "Hero's Journey". By staging and acting it out as a play, we also learned a little bit about storyline and the power of word use.

Initial Story Ideas
Some of my initial story ideas were:
-Getting stuck in a turnstile at the Joan Kroc Center.
-Breaking my arm
-My trip to Hawaii
-Swallowing a magnetix
And more...
In the end, I chose to write about the time that I swallowed a magnetix.

Hero's Journey
The "Hero's Journey" is a character's process of development and growth throughout a story. We learned about hero's journey so that our narratives could be more significant and we could practice writing character development.

Once we had learned all that, we were ready to perfect our narratives. We went through several drafts of writing before reaching our final drafts.
This is my final draft.

Exhibition
For exhibition, we set up some stations in the auditorium and had some students read their narratives aloud. We had the shell station: Where people could come up and practice describing shells. We had the reading station, also: Where some students had the opportunity to read their stories to a smaller audience. A golden moment that I had during exhibition was when Pablo read his narrative. What mad this moment golden was the fact that Pablo was extremely energetic and charismatic during his performance.
